Faramir of Lord of the Rings is the Best!
Mar. 21st, 2004 10:25 pmWARNING DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILIOGY OR SEEN ANY OF THE MOVIES! IT MAY SPOIL THINGS ABOUT EOWYN OR FARAMIR OR PRINCE IMRAHIL OF DOL AMROTH FOR YOU!!!
Not much has happened as of late so I thought I would write an entry today all about Faramir of Lord of the Rings (LOTR).
Faramir is my favorite LOTR character, although being a huge fan I love all of Tolkien's fine characters, he did such a good job making them all.
Faramir is lovely. He is a fine warrior, but I think in his heart he would rather be doing other things than fighting, I think he is a big believer in peace. I believe they even make a mention of this in the Return of the King. Faramir also was willing to sacrifce everything to help Gondor and to please and help his father. He did so without even any word of warmth or encouragement when he went to front again. He was also so romantic to Eowyn, so gentle he was.
I was sad to fine that in the Two Tower's film Faramirs character had been tweaked his motives had been changed. It was a bummer but I can understand why it was done. I seemed reasonable enough as Denethor knew more about what was happeining and most likely knew more about the ring than anyone outside of the Fellowship should have, and also Faramir had been under a lot of pressure from his Father to deliever. One of the coolest things about Faramir is that he was able to resist the temptation of the ring, he was one of the fwe men who was able to. So it's a shame he had to be sort of a bad guy in TTT. It didn't spoil the movie for me or anything like that however. I still loved the movie, I'm a very mild critic ^_^. Besides poor Faramir goes to great lenghts in Return of the King to serve Middle Earth well. Yes Faramir totally ROCKS!(:
Another character who I thought was really neat was Imrahil of Dol Amroth. I believe he is one of the numenor like Aragorn and is kin to Gonor's line of Stewards. He plays a major warriors role in the Return of the King and brings Dol Amroth's armies to Gondor during it's siege. When I read of Plennor Fields with Aragorn, Eomir and Imarhil kicking so much orc butt I thought to myself wow if leaders like these the men of the West will be alright lol! I don't think Imrahil has a part in the movie of Return of the King? Unless his character was the blond warrior which has a small speaking part who is shown every now and then. I think you see him most when Faramir is brought wounded into Minas Tirith. which would make make sence as Imrahil carried Faramir into the city. Since this actor is never called by a charcter name, it's hard to be sure or not. I guess we will have to wait and see on the extended version if he is shown more and named. I've been pondering over writing a fan fic with Imrahil as the main charater because I haven't seen many fictions with Imrahil as the center character and that would be really cool.
I'm really excited for the Extended Verision of Return of the King to come out, it's a shame we have to wait until November *cries*. Oh well I'm sure it will be well worth the wait! I have also heard that The Extented version has more with Faramir and Eowyn. like a possible marriage scence, and time spent in the houses of healing! Wow I am so stoked to see it! Well I think that about does it! I could talk on and about LOTR, but I probably shouldn't ;)
Just as a little note sorry about typos I have. My computer does this stupid thing that makes it very hard if not impossible to change a mistake without having to erase everything. Sorry about that, I hope it isn't to annoying to anyone who reads this!
